About creACTiVE

Background

creACTiVE is developing a new curriculum for experiencing music. Our Recreational Music Making programs provide children and young people (aged 9-18yrs) with opportunities to learn about, create and play music in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

The Curriculum has been developed with the assistance of a team of music-making, teaching, and playing experts.

Executive Producer/Director - Greg Dodge

Greg is a music industry leader, visionary and passionate entrepreneur. He is also an experienced musician, business manager, trainer, marketer, event producer, creator, communicator, business developer, public speaker and motivator.

Greg recently came to national recognition through his market development and training company, Oxygen 4 2, with the role-out of new recreational music-making programmes - Weekend Warriors, Boardroom Blitz, The Band Thing (Glenala project), Weekend Swing Cats, Come Together, Brizband School Challenge and Amp’d Up.

In 1989 Greg was the Director of Music Worx Pty Ltd and in 1993 established and was appointed the first President the Queensland Music Industry Network (QMusic).

Greg has been an industry advisory member on ITAB (Industry Training Advisory Board) for South Bank Contemporary Music, CISC (Creative Industry Skills Council), Creative Industries “Music Sectoral” for Dept. State Development and Innovation, advisor for Music Makers Development Fund, Music.Play for Life (Q’ld) and adjudicator for the 2004 Golden Fiddle Awards.

Greg also consults to industry and current clients include Ellaways Music, Brisbane City Council, The Brisbane Powerhouse and several emerging artists/bands.

Professor Andy Arthurs, QUT

Curriculum Development - Professor Andy Arthurs

Professor Arthurs is Queensland University of Technology's Creative Industries Professor/Head of Music. He is an experienced performer, producer, publisher, composer and recording engineer. He gained a music honors degree at the University of Surrey, Guildford, England (1974) BMus (Tonmeister) and is currently undertaking a PhD on sound sampling with the City University, London.

In 2000, Professor Arthurs co-authored Musical Environments with Richard Vella and was the Musical Director for the Brisbane Powerhouse opening event. Professor Arthurs has worked on numerous Australian and international film, tv, video, multimedia and recording production projects and has been a member of the Arts Queensland Minister's Cultural Advisory Council, National Council for Tertiary Music, The Aboriginal Performance Centre, Music Council of Australia, QMusic, Arts Training Queensland Board, The Queensland Orchestra and Deep Blue Orchestra (Orchestra for the 21st Century).
